OCEANHOLIC – ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLAND

PORT BLAIR

Traveling 780 miles across the Bay of Bengal from Kolkata, this port city in the Andaman archipelago is the fender-bender point for the Mahatma Gandhi National Marine Park by which traveler gets most attracted. Plunging, swimming, and glass-base boat trips give perspectives on uncommon corals and marine life. Onshore, family-accommodating Gandhi Park offers entertainment rides and a nature trail. Close by Viper and Ross islands contain recorded leftovers of British rule, while Corbyn’s Cove has stays of Japanese shelters at its palm-lined ocean side.

ROSS ISLAND

Ross Island (now known as Netaji Subhash Bose Island) is a 2 kilometer east of Port Blair island that was originally the British administrative headquarters but is now merely uninhabited. Following an earthquake that struck Ross Island in 1941, the British evacuated the island and relocated this destination to Port Blair.

At first glance, it’s difficult to realize that this deserted island destination formerly held everything from a market, a church, businesses, a bakery, a water treatment plant, tennis court, printing press, secretariat, hospital, cemetery, and other key organizations.

Except for a few structures that held some of these landmarks, everything has vanished today. The Indian Navy has been successful in its mission.

CELLULAR JAIL

The three-storeyed jail, built by Britishers in 1906, is currently a tourism spot for travelers from everywhere in the world. The adventure of the brave opportunity battle is brought alive in a moving every day program, shown day by day inside the prison compound. The construction of the prison started in 1896 and was completed in 1906. The original building was a puce-colored brick building. The bricks used to build the building were brought from Burma. The building had seven wings, at the center of which a tower served as the intersection and was used by guards to keep watch on the inmates; this format was based on Jeremy Bentham’s idea of the Panopticon. The wings radiated from the tower in straight lines, much like the spokes of a bicycle.

RADHANAGAR BEACH

This beach is known as one of the most beautiful beaches in Asia. It is a huge tourist attraction due to its outstanding beauty and is also named as the 7th most beautiful beach in the world.

Radhanagar Beach is a place to watch the sunrise and sunset. One could sit on the shore for hours, admiring the beauty of the sky and the sea sinking into each other at any moment. If you are adventurous, you can even scuba dive and do other water sports at the beach.

Seafood available at Radhanagar beach food stalls is simply lip gloss for the tourism travelers and to make the scene more beautiful you can even order delicious coconut drinks with food. Be mesmerized by the beauty of Radhanagar Beach.

Baratang is an ideal destination for travelers with nature lovers for its natural beauty and diverse wildlife.

The impressive limestone caves are one of a kind with charming stalactites, stalagmites, and rock formations for travelers.

PARROT ISLAND

Parrot Island, a tiny island completely covered in mangroves, is reached via a magnificent boat journey through lush mangrove forests. Half an hour before nightfall, the boats leave from Baratang’s Nilambar jetty. Hundreds (if not thousands) of parrots flock to the island well after sunset; you can see them soaring overhead and hear their calls, but you won’t be able to picture them because it gets dark quickly and there isn’t much twilight in the tropics. Nonetheless, the experience will be worth it for travelers. On the route to the island, one can even notice a Jarawa cabin on this tourist destination.
